Kingmaker (PFRPG Adventure Path 31-36)
As y’all know, this will be my first time running a campaign. I selected a prewritten adventure path that will leave me, as GM, a lot of room to add expeditions, change prewritten encounters, and customize the story to the interests of the party. My hope is that this will allow me to learn not only how to run a successful campaign, but also how to craft an intriguing adventure using my own material.
This particular adventure will also alow you, the PCs, a lot of leeway to make choices and explore rather than stick to a strict storyline. This, I think, will prove to be rather challenging for me, as the party may decide to veer from the missions I’ve prepared. So I’ll thank you fellows outright for your patience with me. I’m expecting the first couple of sessions to be a little rocky, but I’m hoping I’ll improve with experience and prep work.
Here is the basic premise of this adventure.
Your party has been issued a charter by the reigning powers of Restov to explore the wilds of the Greenbelt (also known as the Stolen Lands), to map a specific area and, if possible, to thwart the bandits and monsters that currently live in the forests and plague Restov’s Southern borders, to establish settlements (and possibly small kingdoms) there, and to ultimately set up mutually-beneficial relationships with the kingdom of Restov and with other charter holders.
We will talk more about your motivations and character development when we gather next Friday. B. already has a great idea for his character that I think you guys will find very interesting. In the next week, try to think about what kind of character you would like to play, what he or she might think like and look like, and what that character’s history might be. Think up with a background story that might explain why your character might be interested in this charter to go out and attempt to tame the wilds to the South. If you need some inspiration, take a look at the Player’s Guide I sent out last week.
Shoot me an email if you have any questions.
